Guide: Obsidian with free, self-hosted, instant sync

I’ve been using Obsidian with the LiveSync plugin by vrtmrz for over a month now and not counting the Arr stack, this plugin is without a doubt, the single-best self-hosted service that I run on my server. I use it multiple times a day and at this point I can’t live without it. So I decided to contribute back to the community, which has taught me so much, by sharing my experience and also writing a detailed guide. I found that most guides gloss over crucial steps, but then again I rarely know what I’m doing, so take my guide with a pinch of salt.

I’m still over the edge if I should go this route or continue with my current setup: syncing everything via Resilio Sync across my different VPS and my mobile apps.

Paid Php 199 good for 1 week of 50Mbps #Globe #GFiber Prepaid internet. I need to use the internet only for this 2-day weekend and came home to this blinking red LOS in the router. P199 down the drain including that P999 I paid a few months ago for the installation.

A lot of banks in the Philippines still rely on SMS for #2FA, despite how insecure it is—easily spoofed, intercepted, and unreliable. Some use in-app confirmations via their mobile app, but if you lose access to your phone, you’re probably locked out. Why not support standard authentication apps like #2FAS, #Aegis, #Bitwarden, #Vaultwarden, or #KeePassXC, which have TOTP support and easy backups? That way, I wouldn’t have to worry about losing access. #MFA #MultiFactorAuthentication #Security

One good advantage of #GoToSocial is it accepts up to 5,000 characters toots/statuses/messages, compared to just 500 in #Mastodon (at least in my #FossTodon instance). I can post blog-like contents in here.
