Western Digital WD TV Live
I think this one is better than this Imation Media Player, as the WD is capable of playing HD movies, although more expensive at P6,200.
I hope to get this program into my living room.
Experience YouTube XL on the Big Screen →
From the Youtube Blog:
Last January we introduced a video website especially for people who wanted to access YouTube videos through their Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii game consoles. You could say we’ve now “expanded” on that. Just as there’s a YouTube browser for mobile devices, the new YouTube XL is optimized for watching YouTube videos on any large screen.
In addition to an all new design offering large text and simplified navigation, YouTube XL offers a continuous play feature, which lets you search for a topic on YouTube and then press “play” once to watch all of the videos sequentially on that topic. Also, getting from one video to the next takes just a few clicks, and you can control the action with a blue tooth enabled remote control, or even some mobile phones.
With millions of HD playbacks daily, YouTube is now bringing popular YouTube favorites like “Where the Hell is Matt?” to the big screen in HD. Also better when bigger: check out larger-than-life roller coaster point-of-view videos, work-out routines with the screen out of high-kick range, university lectures where you can read the blackboard, and home videos the whole family can watch together.
This is I guess a replacement to the earlier feature and works everywhere your TV is connected to a browser.
But the blog says it’s for HD TV’s. What about mine with only a standard TV? This I still have to find out, maybe later tonight, whether the resolution and the aspect ration will fit into my TV.
Searching for Devant
I saw last night a 22” Devant LCD TV selling at Ansons Store in Makati. I tried googling for the brand name, but nothing appears close to the brand and the company.
Is this the kind of marketing you want for your product?
Update: Just would like to add some of the other comments that were lost due to the change in commenting system from js-kit to disqus.

sa monumento abenson nakita ki din, gusto ko ngang bilhin pero i search the net for the company who made it wala, hinda ba product din ng nextbase un?
January 3, 2009 by me:
That’s exactly my point. Di ba kung gusto nila maka benta dapat meron man lng sana clang website?
January 4, 2009 by Wilburt Wong:
hehehe! i was also looking for info on this product… pero actually, nabili ko na, i got the 22” model which is the most mabenta daw talaga, i even had to transfer stores twice kasi out-of-stock!
m using it now as TV and computer monitor na din. madali kasi magswitch eh, pindot mo lang sa remote kung VGA = computer monitor or TV = cable tv. COOL NO?
sa computer nga lang you have to find the right resolution sa settings, auto adjust kasi yung LCD display or else it stretches the whole thing side-ways. oo nga pala, you may want to increase the tint settings, masyadong bright kasi eh.
sa TV naman, everything is pretty easy to use. except for the color, brightness and contrast na naka-set sa standard nila, so you have to set it sa gusto mo.
overall, it’s idiot-friendly… and yes, according to the reciept, its a nextbase product.

I recently bought a black Devant LCD TV after about two weeks of drooling at it in several appliance stores in the city. I particularly liked its classic appearance and the smooth finish. The first time I turned it on, I noticed that the colors are a bit saturated but was later fixed with a few adjustments. Built-in speaker sound quality is ok. The picture can be adjusted to panorama, fullscreen and two other options i don’t remember at the moment. There’s a feature that can freeze a picture on TV.
With regards to picture quality I would compare it to that of Sharp or Panasonic.

Im also planning to buy a Devant LCD TV but im a bit hesitant because i’ve practically never heard of it. Cant even find their website in google. Admittedly, it looks good and it has some cool features but what if it breaks down?
I remember, i had some problems with my NEXTBASE dvd player when it broke down. I couldnt find a convenient service center to have it fixed. I went to SM Megamall because that’s where i bought it but they told me i had to go to Binondo because that’s where their service center is located.
I ended up junking the less than a year old NEXTBASE dvd player.

Obviously they lack that solid online marketing strategy. We can just hope some people give an online review of the products from this page.

hello people.. sana masagot nyo katanungan ko.. im planning to buy one tomorrow 10-17-09.. yung latest model nila n xseries yata yun, yun ang signature model nila.. i tested n unit, played some dvd movies, like “the day the earth stood still” and guess what.. maganda yung picture quality, maganda skin tone ng mga character, but when i try samsung series 3 and series 4. para ng mas ok p yung devant x series nila.. pero ang gamit n dvd player nung devant is nextbase using HDMI. yugn kaya ang dahilan kaya naging picture perfect yung image or its because of a hidden secrets of devant LCD TV. na pagandahin yung mga lalabas n image.. my question is, sa tingin nyo mas maganda kaya na mag risk ako dun sa devant…

I have a Devant 32DP800. It came with a free nextbase hdmi player. so far so good. picture quality is at par with at least samsung series 4. highly recommended for those on a tight budget who want to spend on a good performing lcd tv

Just bought a 32” model. I never got to test it at home. (may pasok kasi kinabukasan). Gagamitin ko sana siya sa Xbox 360 ko. It comes with a 1 year warranty and it’s service center is a samsung service centre near our area which is quite nice (san fernando pampanga). Like many others I tried to search the net about the company and thier product pero wala akong makita. It made me think na local company lang sya and other thing the salesman said that it was made using European Technology which gave me a little comfort. Sana di ko ito pagsisihan T_T
11/26/2009 04:15 PM
I also bought the same as above…Devant 32DP800, 28k, free HDMI dvd player and HDMI cable with Gold tip, 1 year warranty sa Ansons Trinoma. 2 weeks ko na sya ginagamit.. and I’m very much satisfied. I can play games with xbox 360 while watching a cable show. I forgot the name of that feature, PiP ata. Pero it’s really cool. I used that during the fight with Pacman, na sobrang haba and dami ng commercials Hahaha. Sabi sakin ng salesman (several stores), devant na raw pinakamabenta coz it’s cheap and it’s equivalent to Samsung Series 4 or latter. It also has 2 usb ports. It can play any format of videos daw (di ko pa natrtry)… even divX and mkv… which i think super plus plus sa features. Made in China sya. Hmm what else…ok din ung remote control. Very user friendly. Overall, I think it’s a good buy!!

i just bought my devant 32dp800 with a free dvd player @ 24k here in dagupan… ang ganda ng performance nya so far for a weeknow… best buy talaga to…
01/25/2010 11:24 AM
the devant is purely made in china believe me.there’s a saying God created the earth and eveything is made in china! ul get wat u pay for. if u really got d money (there’s no such thing as in a tight budget wen buying tv) i prefer u buy sharp or sanyo coz its really worth it, sony is just hiding behind its name but its still made by cheap labor. i hope u know wer it is my worried friends

i just bought 1 last saturday 32 lcd tv with free home theatre & hdmi player. mejo may hesitations ako kasi nga never heard ang brand kaso maganda yung freebies eh kaya na engganyo ako. mejo napansin ko lang is yung sa left & right edges nung screen parang nag eexpand yung picture pero kapag sinelect ko ung factory default na settings ok na. un lang kapag nag select ako ng ibang zoom setting, bumabalik na naman sa ganun. so far 1 day ko pa lang siya nagagamit & i just hope na di ako magsisi. any feedback on their warranty service? kasi doon ako mejo kinakabahan compared to other brands na kilala na.

it’s unfortunate to hear about that. buti ako panasonic nabili ko. hehehe
03/09/2011 06:05 PM

I also bought 22” Devant LED TV at SM Makati last March alone, Last May 20, 2011 while we’re watching American Idol. it was automatically turn-off. I tried to re-open it again, it so happened that after flashing the devant Logo it turn black all over the screen. I inform SM Makati about the problem and they suggest me to bring back the unit because maybe its one of the defective unit. Grabe defective na pala binibenta pa. Sayang 13k ko.

I don’t own a Devant TV. But there are positive as well as negative experiences. Cguro nga swerte swerte n lng yan.
