3100 Performance by Magnus Carlsen →

The rampage continues: in round four of the Pearl Spring Super-GM 18-year-old Norwegian GM Magnus Carlsen showed grit and determination to win his third game, against Russian GM Dmitry Jakovenko, with the black pieces. Magnus now has a performance of over 3100.

This kid has really a long way to go. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a year or two he becomes the World Champion and/or capture the top spot at the FIDE’s rankings.

Carlsen and Kasparov join forces

It was the best-kept secret of the year: Magnus Carlsen, at 18 already the fourth highest ranked player in the world, has won the legendary Garry Kasparov, arguably the greatest player in chess history, as his personal trainer. The goal is to make Magnus the world’s number one in the course of the coming year.

A great and very young chess grandmaster, GM Magnus Carlsen, has a blog. I don’t know, maybe the posts and the whole website is maintained by his father.

But at least there’s a venue for fans to interact with him - maybe not directly - but at least.

It’s hosted in blogg.no, which I really don’t know if it’s something that should be trusted. They should have known Tumblr instead.
